Adjunct Work in San Antonio!

Today I began teaching again! I'm very excited to be back in the classroom. I am teaching Introduction to Theatre and Acting I at Northwest Vista College, and a new class for me - Stagecraft at St. Philip's College. I'm also advising the stage manager practicum students at NVC. It should be an interesting semester all around!

Play Fest 2012

More good news!!!!

I signed on to production stage manage a series of short new plays developed by playwrights through the San Pedro Playhouse under the production title Play Fest 2012. Little did I know that the opportunity would soon arise to direct two of those plays myself!

I've been assured that due to the nature of this production I can easily (maybe easily isn't the best word here...) direct two of the plays as well as PSM the entire show.

To help me out, I've hired one of the stage managers I trained at Northwest Vista as my ASM. He's delighted for the opportunity, and I will need the help. Everyone wins!

Should be fun!

SM Consultant

On Monday I start my first paid gig in San Antonio! I'm doing stage manager consultant work over at Northwest Lakeview College for Mellissa Marlowe. It's so exciting to get into the academic theatre here so soon! I even put together a stage manager handbook to prep all the season SMs for rehearsals and performances.

I smell a future publication! - Although it may be a while before that happens.

TheatreASAP was a lot of fun, and a great way to introduce myself to the theatre community in San Antonio!

I'm very excited to say that I am one of the directors for the San Antonio Theatre Coalition's 10 minute play festival, TheatreASAP! Auditions were yesterday, and it looks like a good group! Performance on September 10th at 8PM!

ATHE Plenary Response Panel

I just recently returned from Chicago where I presented my paper "Ancient Greek Drama and Social Drama" at ATHE. I was part of a round table discussion on Victor Turner's anthropological theories as they are used in theatre and performance. This session also served as the Religion and Theatre Focus Group's plenary response panel. For an overview of my presentation see the abstract below.
